As our business grows we will strive to offer an abundance of fun and interesting classes to tantalize every knitter, whether you are just starting out or want to try something new. Unlike most knitting classes, you will have the benefit of two teachers and receive more individualized attention in every class. We will be taking full advantage of Albuquerque's beautiful weather and hold many of our classes outdoors with our little 1955 Terry Trailer always in tow.

2-Sessions

Dates: Saturdays May 4th and 11th

Time:11:00pm-1:30pm

Location:Hip Stitch, 7001 San Antonio Dr., NE.

This class is for the beginning knitter who can knit, purl, bind-off and understands how to read a simple knitting pattern. If you learned to knit years ago and want to take it up again, or are a self-taught knitter and need some help filling in the blanks; this is also the class for you.

Our Intermediate Class will teach you how to knit in the round with circular and double point needles. We will demystify gauge and teach you how to calculate gauge for a custom project, we will discuss different types of cast-ons, bind-offs, increases and decreases, how to pick-up stitches correctly and introduce simple lace and cable techniques.

You will have a choice of two projects: choose a yarn and create your own custom hat or a simple lace & cable scarf.

Materials: For the hat you will need 200 yards of worsted weight yarn, a size 7-16 inch circular needle and size 7 double point needles for decreasing. For the scarf you will need 300-400 yards of worsted weight yarn, size 7 needles and a cable needle.

You can register online or call 280-7557 or in person at Hip Stitch.

Have A Knitting Party!
Instructor(s): Ramona Chesley and Chris Appleton

There must be a minimum of four people in a private party and a maximum of ten people.
  •  We suggest starting with a two hour party, which will give you an introduction to yarn and needles and start you casting-on, learning the knit stitch and binding-off. Most students will learn enough in one class to start and complete a simple scarf or cowl. After the first party you can decide if you would like to have a second party and continue your lessons.
  • The amount for a Beginning Knitting party is $40 per person, this includes all materials.
Each person will receive a size 7 circular needle, 250 yards of merino wool yarn (you will have a choice of colors), basic
    instructions, and a beginner pattern.
If you decide to continue with a second party/class, you will only be charged a $10 hourly rate.
  •  We do request that all students prepay for the first party via PayPal or check.
  •  For those of you who already know how to knit, pick something new you and your friends would like to learn: embellishing your clothes, knitting socks or lace,  finishing an old project, knitting a rag rug. Call or email us and we can discuss ideas for your personalized  party.
  • Different rates may apply to different parties. If you have questions, or would like to reserve a time for a party, please call 280-7557
